MS SQL DBA Responsibilities


  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of Microsoft SQL Server (Standard, Enterprise) and SQL Azure.
  • Design, Install and Maintain High Availability Environments with 100% Uptime.
  • Database tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor performance of SQL Queries in order to provide fast responses to front-end users.
  • Trouble shooting of database reported issues.
  • Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans.
  • Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Acts.
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) with control access permissions and privileges.
  • Carry out capacity planning activities to plan growth and changes.
  • Work closely with Product Support Managers and Implementation Managers, Subject matter Experts, database programmers.
  • Ensure database integrity and security.
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.
  • Work as part of a team and provide 7×24 support.

Skills Required:

  • Engineering Graduate with 10+ Years of Experience in Managing large MS SQL database environments.
  • Very Good Knowledge on SQL Scripting is a MUST.
  • MSSQL Certified Administrator is Desirable.
  • Good Windows Server Operating System Knowledge is an advantage.
