Chairman & CEO, STG
Dr. Romesh Wadhwani is the Chairman & CEO of Symphony Technology Group (STG). Romesh founded STG to combine his 30 years of experience in enterprise software with his passion for building great companies. Romesh currently serves on the boards of STG companies SymphonyIRI Group, Symphony Services, Lawson (Nasdaq: LWSN), MSC Software and Shopzilla.
Romesh was the founder and former chairman & CEO of Aspect Development, Inc. till 1999 when the company was acquired by i2 Technologies.
For nearly a decade, Romesh grew Aspect Development in to a leader in business-to-business e-commerce, culminating in the merger of Aspect with supply chain software company, i2 Technologies. This was one of the largest enterprise software mergers. Following the merger with i2, Romesh became the vice chairman of i2 and a member of its board of directors.
For the ten years prior to founding Aspect, Romesh was founder, chairman & CEO of Cimflex Teknowledge Corporation, a company specializing in products and systems for computer-integrated manufacturing. In the decade prior to that, he was founder, chairman & CEO of a company specializing in information systems for energy management. In addition to this, he has been a director on the boards of several companies and organizations. Romesh received his Bachelor of Science degree from IIT Bombay and his MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Managing Director, STG
Dr. Pallab Chatterjee is an internationally recognized high-tech executive with experience in Corporate General Management, Corporate Governance, Strategy, Technology, Operations, and Outsourcing.
Currently, Pallab is a Managing Director of Symphony Technology Group (STG), a strategic private equity firm that invests and partners in building great software and services companies, growing them not only with capital, but also with innovation. Pallab currently serves on the boards of directors of SSC, Teleca and MSC Software.
Prior to STG, Pallab was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of i2 Technologies, Inc. Under his leadership, i2 launched a new sales execution model coupled with new service lines for the company's Total Supply Chain Management approach that yielded significant bookings growth for i2. Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Dr. Chatterjee was President – Solutions Operations at i2, where he was responsible for product development, product marketing, and delivery of i2 Technologies' supply chain management solutions.
Prior to i2, Dr. Chatterjee spent 24 years at Texas Instruments (TI) in various executive management positions. Under his leadership as both the Senior Vice President of Research & Development and the Chief Technology Officer, Texas Instruments Technology Labs was Internationally recognized for excellence and acknowledged by both academia and industry. As TI senior fellow in 1985, an IEEE fellow in 1986, Dr. Chatterjee received the IEEE J. J. Ebers award in 1986. He has been awarded numerous patents and has written several publications on the high technology industry.
Dr. Chatterjee has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India where he was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for curricular excellence and the B.C. Roy Memorial Gold Medal for extracurricular excellence. He received his master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois.
Operating Partner, STG
As Operating Partner with Symphony Technology Group (STG) since October 2011, Mahinder Mathrani helps portfolio companies in their business transformation efforts to significantly enhance customer and shareholder value. He brings over thirty years of diverse global general management, customer-facing and operations experience.
Mahinder joined STG from Genpact where he spent twenty months successfully integrating the acquisition of Symphony Marketing Solutions, formerly an STG portfolio company, leveraging a global delivery model for data management and analytics to deliver the gold standard in market and customer insights. Before joining Genpact, he was President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Symphony Marketing Solutions for three years, where he was instrumental in launching, building and operating the company before its acquisition by Genpact. Prior to Symphony Marketing Solutions, Mahinder spent fifteen years with the SymphonyIRI Group, where he held a variety of senior level roles in client services, sales and marketing, technology consulting, and global delivery & operations.
Prior to his tenure with the Symphony family, Mahinder had more than ten years of diverse international business experience in a variety of research, analytic and product management positions at companies like Citicorp, the Arbitron Company, and the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
Mahinder has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, and also holds an MBA with a specialization in Finance and Operations Research from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Chief Financial Officer, STG
Steve Henkemeier is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Symphony Technology Group (STG), responsible for the firm's investor relations, finance, technology, legal, human resources, compliance and administrative functions. Steve also assists with STG's deal structuring, portfolio management and driving transformational initiatives within the portfolio.
Prior to joining STG, Steve was the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Finance and Strategy officer at several software and professional services companies including ClickSquared, Pri-Med, Mainspring, IBM and Novell. Steve's responsibilities spanned public and private debt and equity financings, deal sourcing and diligence, corporate strategy and transformations, pricing optimization, systems implementations and compensation programs. Earlier in his career, Steve was a certified public accountant and senior manager in the Technology practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Steve graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the Stanford Graduate School of Business with an MBA where he was named an Arjay Miller scholar.
Chief Executive Officer
Satyen is the Chief Executive Officer at Symphony SUMMIT software. Satyen brings in over two decades of experience in running successful businesses to Symphony SUMMIT. Most recently, Satyen was the Vice President at IBM running x86 server business in India and South Asia and was instrumental in growing IBM x-Series servers to a market leadership position in India. Before IBM, Satyen served as General Manager – Mid Markets at Dell India where he was instrumental in making Dell the market leader in the segment across multiple products.
Prior to Dell, Satyen ran a successful venture for 12 years where he co-promoted and built Vitage Group into a leading IT Systems Integration and Services player in the Indian market.
Satyen has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagpur University and also holds a PGDM from IIM, Bangalore.
Senior Vice President, Technology & Product Management
Vijaya Shanker is Senior Vice President of Technology & Product Management at Symphony SUMMIT Software. Shanker brings more than 21 years of IT industry experience to Symphony SUMMIT. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Global IT and Managed services at Symphony Services, where he headed the Infrastructure and enterprise applications teams. Prior to Symphony Services, Shanker served as a practice head at Hewlett-Packard GlobalSoft, where he was responsible for managing the complete IT infrastructure, and remote IT management for HP's global managed services customers. Before joining HP, Shanker was Associate Vice President of network services and operations at Global Telesystems. Shanker holds a Bachelor's degree in electronics from Bangalore Institute of Technology.
Vice President, Product Engineering
Vasudev Nayak is the Vice President of Product Development at Symphony SUMMIT Software. Vasudev brings more than 18 years of IT industry experience to Symphony SUMMIT. Most recently, he was the Director for Product Development at Symphony Services, where he led the enterprise applications teams. Prior to Symphony Services, Vasudev served as a Lead at Hewlett-Packard GlobalSoft, where he was responsible for the automation of IT and Managed Services Delivery. Before joining HP, Vasudev was the Manager of Enterprise Application team at Global TeleSystems.
